I grew up in Wisconsin and eventually moved to Los Angeles where I started my career as an Editor. I've been working on everything from big budget 3D films to Animation. I met my wife in L.A. and we got married and had a son. He's the best. (this picture is right before Covid)
Amidst Covid and the extended work from home mandate with my job, we all moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to my mother. We got our family a house and started a garden in the backyard. I was able to work remotely and finish multiple animated shows and an animated feature film.
Becoming a parent in my 40s has been great. My only fears are because of my PKD. My fear is that it will be difficult to be an active parent while receiving dialysis for kidney failure. Another fear is that my health will rapidly decline while on dialysis. Dialysis is hard on a body.
I have know about my PKD most of my life. I've been managing my blood pressure and keeping regular visits to my Nephrologist. My kidneys are just failing because they are mostly cysts now. PKD starts slow with a few cysts but, eventually, the cysts multiply and grow, ruining the regular tissue within the kidney. Once the cysts ruin that tissue, its effectiveness to filter out waste and make urine is greatly decreased.
My goal with this page is to help with awareness about PKD and kidney donation.
